Two-phase non-Newtonian Mechanistic Slug Solver

This solver is an extension of the mechanistic model of Orell (2005), to consider the non-Newtonian, power-law type liquid phase. (more info)

Power-law type non-Newtonian liquid phase

This solver assumes that the liquid phase behaves as a power-law fluid where $$\tau = K \dot{\gamma}^n.$$ To simulate regular Newtonian fluids, one can set \(n=1\) and then \(K\) will be the viscosity of the liquid phase.

Drag coefficient is the parameter that our model uses to calculate the frequency of the slugs. Values between 0.15 and 0.2 works good for many cases. In practice this parameter depends on the rhoelogy of the liquid phase and the pipe diameter.
